If the document is very important for YOU, then, if possible, make a personal visit and get what you want; if the document is important for your client, then send a polite email explaining the need for possessing such document duly signed by both parties for business, safety and security purposes. Give importance and appreciate the business/communication relationship and it will be appreciated and your work will be done without ranting and ranching by your client.
