Dear Dr. Muralikrishna,

You could have given little more information. In what context you have raised this query? Who would be the prospective trainers? What is their background? What kind of training you are looking at, technical or non-technical? Have they been trained on presentation skills already? How frequently they will do the training and for what level? What would be the background of their trainees or learners? Have you conducted any survey of the psychology of the trainees who will be trained by these trainers?

How can anyone do programme like "Train The Trainer" (TTT) in just a day? Though training is far more than presentations, these very skills are the soul of the training skills. To be a trainer, one demands investing at least 2 days in building presentation skills. Then comes the discussion on topics of TTT and then some practice exercises. Therefore, ideal TTT should last anything between 3-5 days.

In 2001, while working for FedEx, I did my Instructional and Presentation Skills (ISP) course. Four days were reserved just for mastering presentation skills. Actual delivery of training topics came much later. But then these MNCs are MNCs because they invest heavily on their human assets and reap benefits also.

If you do some web search, you may get course contents for TTT, However, I recommend you first revisiting your idea TTT itself. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing" goes the famous phrase. But then this little knowledge is inversely proportional to the damage that it does. Have you taken into account these invisible losses?

Thanks,

Dinesh V Divekar
