Dear friend /colleagues

I am an academician/ researcher in the area of HRM working in Gautam Buddha University Greater Noida. I am working on an edited book on positive psychology . You are invited to contribute paper / research article to be published as book chapters on the given topic.

Positive Psychology

For much of the 20thcentury, psychology’s focus has been to find what is wrong with the human condition and then look at ways to fix the problems. While it may not have been the original intent, human problems and behavior are largely seen from a negative maladaptive perspective (Karwoski, Garratt, & Ilardi, 2006;Luthans, 2002). The paradigm supports the way organizational theorists look at organizations: there are problems that need to be fixed. The problems could either be in the design of the organization, its strategy or its people (managers and employees). Few look at what is right in these systems; there is no significant attempt to identify strengths and build on them despite the lip service given by most Chief Executive Officers; that people are their greatest asset. This framework is changing dramatically with the coming of age of positive psychology. However, it is critical that during this period of sustained economic slowdown, HR professionals look at positive psychology as an Organization Development approach to build employee confidence and maintain employee engagement.

The focus of positive psychology is to look at what is right in the human condition and to use this as a platform to help people achieve their full potential (Snyder &McCullough, 2000). The objective is not to fix problems to take performance to a whole new level by understanding characteristics that are inherently good in human beings for example, trust, resilience, character, ethics, gratitude, love and so on. This book is an attempt to understand positive psychology in greater detail and to explore how it is making an impact in organizational behavior studies

The philosophy and practice of this new paradigm can be used to combine business results with the holistic development of the individual , when confidence levels are low and anxiety is high among employees.

Dear friends I am requesting an invite of papers and research article on the following topic------

a) Positive psychology

b) Positive psychology as a process to manage employee performance (HRM)

c) Positive organizational Behaviour

d) Perceived organizational Support

e) HRM/HRD through positive psychology

f) Any other related topic of relevance ( Your Suggestions)
