Please draw the list of 'must-haves' and the deliverables for the CFO to your firm. Mostly these are the reasons why you are hiring a CFO.
The metrics to the performance cannot come unless you research the price of the deliverables you are trying to negotiate .
Often the salary is the easiest part as you can readily tap it through the exiting sources such as recruitment consultants or even your professional network. However, the catch lies in offering the package. Please spend some good amount of time trying to understand every area of interest and lookouts for the talent .
A C-suite hiring is dicey as there is no-learning curve for the talent. Hence, the tradeoffs need to be well planned . Look for a talent within your sector with diversified experience , that way you can offer more opportunities with your firm to grow
