Dear Mr. Greek John,
Employers give incentives for the recruiters to attract them and retain talent. Rewarding employees is a nature of extending the gratitude for one who meets and exceeds the job expectations. This is given to motivate their high performance and also to keep up their energy levels. Whatever industry we are in Human Resource seeks the incentive for Employee Recognition and Perfomance.
Whether in whatever sector we are in; Incentive is a rudimentary for an employee. I also would draw attention to those SALES people as, they do a lot and depend on thier incentives. It is said to have a good practise as it enlivens the intensifies ones work.
Therefore, you may talk to the management and see what they want to put in practise and execute.

Thankyou Sharmila Das for the response. But i would like to know if its a mandatory aspect as such. i.e, that recruiters must be given incentives or is it at the discretion of the management ?

Dear Mr. Greek John, Incenitive is not obligatory. If your management perceives that this aspect may enhance; it is upto their sole discretion to instigate.

Though it is not obligatory, employers must offer incentives because it encourages the employees and keeps them engaged and increases the individual focus!!
I think offering incentives is better than performance appraisal process!!

Hello Greek John,

While Sharmila Das & Ashok Negidi clarified your primary query, I get a feeling that there's some confusion in your mind about the topic/issue of incentives for recruitment.

Pl note that while it's NOT mandatory for a company to GIVE INCENTIVES to recruiters, it is ALSO NOT mandatory that the driving factor for a recruiter HAS to be incentive. There would be multiple choices--and it all depends on the the Employer AND the individual.

From the Employer's perspective, salaries @ some companies would be quite high--to circumvent the need for any Incentives.

From the individual's perspective, he/she COULD have his/her own set of priorities for working--effectively & NOT with disinterest--in an environment which may not have incentives, but has other attributes/facilities that cater to his/her priorities.

In a Nutshell, it depends on multiple factors rather than a single one, as to 'HOW MUCH of a driving factor' are Incentives in recruiting.

From what you intend to know, I think that two positins will clarify the doubts in your mind. One is the legal position with regard to your right to incentives and the other is the ideal position. The legal postion is that you have no right to claim any thing beyond the minimum wages under the law if you are one coming under the purview of the Minimum Wages Act which covers skilled and technical employees) or the wages that were contracted by the employer to pay you for the work performed by you. If your contract contains any clause relating to payment of incentives for any extra work or targets achieved by you and you have fulfilled them, you will become entitled to such incentives as per the terms of the contract. Otherwise, you have no right to any incentives.

The ideal position is that the employer shall pay incentives as a token of reward and recognition of any good work done by the employees to motivate them apart from reimbursing travelling expenses. Therefore it depends up on the good will of the employer

On what basis will you give incentive to an inhouse recruiter ? What is the parameters ? They can't be quantified. You can't use salary or ctc of candidates selected, naturally as it can be so easily misused.
In sales, incentive is easy, as higher the number, better for the company.
In recruitment, that's not the case, its like incentive for purchase dept. it's mostly not done.
