Dear Sirs,
Request for information on companies providing canteen facility to it's employees. Companies in Gujarat would be great help.
For the companies providing - Meal / Tea / Snacks / Dry Snacks (take away, so that families also get subsidized snack).
Also request for Income Tax rule for subsidized food provided by employer. I have heard that if the food is 100% subsidized thru the canteen - it would be considered as Income for the employee and hence taxable.
Thanks & Regards,

Dear Kedar Pradhan
As a matter of fact you are providing the Tea / Snacks / Lunch / Dinner for the employees to increase your productivity and not for the requirement of the employees. Your calculation is if an employee go for tea your 30 minutes work time will spoil. That's the reason you are providing tea for the employee. These are not to be added to the benefits of the employee. But you can show these are all as your employee welfare / labour welfare account head, which will get tax exemption while paying the tax for your company.
Even you are spending on CSR Activities also can get exemption from Tax.
Please consult your company auditor, who can guide you in these aspects.
