Dear All,
I am working with an engineering manufacturing concern and have never practiced Competency Mapping ever. Can any body provide the frame work of starting the activity in my company of 300 staff and 400 workers working on company's roll. Need a proper guideline to start the mapping.

Dear Neha,
Competency mapping is advanced HR intervention. Before you proceed for this advanced intervention, have you considered your organisation's fitness for this? If yes, then on what parameters have you measured the fitness?
Competency mapping should serve its purpose. The end result is increased performance - of business as well as individual. Many times HR professionals get caught in these fancy HR jargon but just can't clearly specify how this intervention could help them in attaining higher business performance.
You could have given this background information first.
Has your organisation established sound Performance Management System (PMS)? Sans PMS, competency mapping carries no meaning. You may take note of this.

Your knowledge and guidance will help in understanding the same in a better way.
I solely handled the whole PMS and we have a sound PMS system and i am very familiar with the company's trade and businesses.We have to practice competency mapping for compliances.
Of course the productivity will increase as Job responsibilities/expectations will be clearly defined.
Via creating competency mapping we can aquire suitable talent and can expect the correct level of answers from interviewee aswell.
The frame work includes creating the parameter of competencies required to do different jobs in the respective department.The next step should include the ranking/rating those competencies as per levels/position of employees.
I hope i will be able to render relevant service to the course.Kindly suggest
