Dear Seniors, I am working as HR in a relatively small company (Immigration consultants) having 6 employees. I have already prepared the offer letter, appointment letter, franchisee agreement and it was also approved. What more can be done?
Seniors, please help me by telling what functions/activities can be done with the present employees other than employee engagement activities and training part. Also, we are not recruiting any new employees at present.
Please give your valuable suggestions.

Hi,
The requirement of HR seems to be lost if the employee strength is too less.. U have to indulge yourself in some or other activities to perform as an HR, improve ur skills & justify your salary. :)
Now as u mentioned that the firm is really small. Here you can make some policies like leave policies, create some form like interview assessment form, performance review & appraisal forms, new joining kit, HRMIS of left & new employees.. & handle some responsibilties of Admin too. So that company will also feel that u are responsible, productive & putting efforts in other works.

Dear Manpreet,
Thank you very much for your suggestions. I will definitely prepare this.
Can you also tell me that creating tie-ups with foreign universities for increasing the business and creating new relations is an HR's job.
What i knew is maintaining relations is an HR's Job.
I am getting very much demotivated when the universities did not even reply, even though i am sending so many mails. My senior asks me for tie-ups and also, i have to justify my salary.
I am getting frustrated by this.
Please suggest.

Hello Birinderjit,
Like Manpreet Rai mentioned, you may need to find work for yourself.
But Business Development isn't one of HR's roles. At best, it may be an additional responsibility. Mind you--NO harm in taking it up, but at the same time the Company management needs to be clear or needs to be made clear that the functional requirements & mindset for such a role are totally different from the HR role.
Maybe if they decide to guide you, you can take it up, but if it becomes a part of your regular work, which will be appraised later along with your HR function, then may be you need to give this job a serious thought.
Suggest talk to them & arrive at a common platform where you can be involved in BD also WITH their guidance. So, in effect, though you will be responsible for the BD activities, it will NOT BE A SOLE responsibility.

Dear TS,
Thank you for replying.
Now, BD has become my main responsibility. I had talked to him. He is of the view that until and unless we have tie up and business then why to hire more people, it would increase our cost. Also, the current employee is the company's minimum cost that co. can bear.
He wants me to do BD part and my morale is going down because of no responses from the prospective clients.
So shall i leave this job and search for a new one before he asks me to leave.

Hi,
It happens in small firms that they change the profile of employees & merge 2 or 3 profiles together. Now in ur case, ur new profile would be Relationship Manager or Business Development which is totally different from HR profile (Employee Engagement).
If u wanna remain in this firm to maintain ur resume by continuing here then there is no harm in moving to other profile bt ur designation should remain the same as HR. U can learn alot from this BD profile & it will build ur confident too.
But i would suggest u to complete atleast 1 yr & then move to some other firm in HR dept. Any other support required at my end, Please let me know.
Best Wishes.

Hi,
No work is easy.. Try to modify the pitching style, follow up regularly, & make ur contacts large by social network, social media..
But if u r not satisfied from ur current profile so look for some other job. & now don't hesitate to ask employee strength & ur work profile during the interview..
All the Best.

Dear Manpreet,
When i joined this company, i was told to main the relations and not building up of relations. Earlier in my jobs also i have tried this BD part. But, it was a failure for me.
I am working on this profile for last one month and there is negative responses from the prospective clients.
I would modify my pitching style and thank you very much for your kind support. And for any future help i will contact you.
