Hi friends,

I am working for 7 years in a small education company (in India) that was started in the year 2004. This company head office is registered in USA, but its branch (so called) in India is not yet registered. This company has no office name board. This company had 17 employees in the beginning. After that each year 2 or 3 employees resigned their job and left the company. Now, there are only 2 employees.

(My company boss stays in USA and very rarely visits India. He gives us lot of hopes, promises, and other verbal commitments on improvement of our office. All communications with the boss is done through phone or E-mail.)

At present I am getting a consolidated salary of Rs. 20,000pm without any benefits (like CL, EL, SL, etc….) or other deductions (like PF). I even don’t get any monthly salary slip. I am a post graduate with 12 years of experience in education sector. This is my current situation in this company.

Friends here are my questions. Please give me your suggestions. I will be very thankful to you.

Q1: Should I still believe in their promises and other verbal commitments?
Q2: I got an offer from another big education company on permanent basis. There I will be getting salary Rs.25,000 with all benefits and deductions. Should I continue to work in this same company or jump to new company?
Q3: I am thinking to quit. But my boss wants me to stay and raised my consolidated salary to Rs.25,000 pm. Should I accept it?
Q4: What are the benefits of working in a company on permanent basis?

Thank you,
Raja

Dear Raja,
Thak you for your query. I am based in the UK and hence, do not understand some terminologies. Is Rs. 25,000 offered by the new company net or gross? How many days holidays do you get? If the old company has shrunk from 17 staff to 2 in 7 years, just think how long will it last. What sort of a Educational company is that? What exactly do you provide and do?
Without knowing your personal circumstances and the new company details like how large it is, how successful it is, etc., it will not be possible to give you sound advice.
Have a nice day.

Hi Raja,
Words are words, promises are promises, and only result is reality. You are having qualification and good experience if compare to market you deserve more. You had worked in this organization and done your part it will be better (According to me) if you join some big organization there will be new challenges and learning and most important you must be happy.

Dear Simhan,
Rupees 25,000 per month offered by the new company is the gross salary. I will be getting 30 days of holidays (CL-7, SL-7, El-16) per annum. It is an MNC educational company that deals with online tutoring and content development in all subjects.
The new company has about 300 employees.
I hope you got the required information. Now, please give me your suggestion.

Hey Chennai friend
I endorse the views of White eagle...joining new company makes a lot of sense at present, and you should not think twice before taking up this opportunity. 7 years is a long time to be given to a Company to work on their promises and commitments, I truly believe that you have given them 7 precious years of your career now its the time to move on and grab the opportunity.
Hope I answered all the queries....

Hi Simhan,
After putting my 100% hard work in this company for these 7 years and quiting without any gain is really disheartening. I have learned my lesson.
Thank you very much for your suggestions.

7 Years is a good time to change. If you continue, you may be a victim of job stagnation. Accept the hike in salary and jump to the new company with a 25% hike in salary. That ways you will have a good pay hike and will be open for new ventures.
You might not be able to sharpen your skills if you continue to work here.
