Hi all, Our office is been shifting to new premises and we are planning for opening ceremony and family get together and I have given full incharge of the event and programme to be taken place that day. So guys just let me know what type of events i can conduct or how exactly i should plan for the day.the event will start around 4:p.m ,so this being my first event in this organozation i want it to be perfect. Badly in need of suggestions.

Organising parties is really fun now, what you need to do is first have detailed plan on paper & then implement it also you can have atleast some help from team members.
Well as for the suggestions, let me know how many people are going to attend the party & with family is going to have kids also??? Coz being the latter the planning will have to be modified...Tentatively here you go
# Have a Theme combine with a a simple dress code (Like evening on the Moon & dress code may be Black, Blue or Silver or any token that represents stars or moon)
# Then games interactive for all, wives & kids but simple with some token of gift...
#List of Food arrangements is related to your budget that could either be a Catering arrangement or an inhouse arrangement or as its a family get together you can have each family get some dishes from their house
# In the end you can have a best dressed couple /family/ male or female etc
for list of games there are lot of posts on the forum check those out...
Now if this entire thing is going to be Formal the mgt & admin of the entire thing will have to slightly modified...

Hello,
You can have a self introduction of family members at first.
Next to know the count of members attending the function and accordingly arrange for food or plan for games you can arrange for some tokens with numbers. Issue the tokens and note down the number against their names for ex. Blue clour for Ladies, red colour for Kids, Yellow colour for Gents. put all the tokens in three different boxes. Have a lucky dip sort of thing. i.e., pick one token from each box and give them gift.
Secondly you can conduct Housie/Tambola, This can be 30 minutes or one hour
For Chidren, you can go for some games like tieing baloons to their one leg and they need to stamp the ballon tied on the other kids with the other leg keeping their balloon safe. the child whose balloon is intact is the winner. Give some prizes for them.
Give some complementary gifts for all the kids below 5 years like some pencil Box, tou or some balls etc.
You can even have a game for all (Pick and Act). write as many chits with something like Act as monkey, drunkard, sing asong, love making etc and ask people to pick and act what ever comes to them. it will be fun.

First prepare an agenda of the entire schedule. Contact some event management (If it is budgeted) for ideas and also try some websites for organising events. You guys can form some fun comittee and allocate some work to the teams. You can have some rangoli competition, crafts, fashion shows, music competition, anthakshari, etc..

Do your homework in alloting the people to the work assigned. For this you need to understand their capabilities for the assigned work by you .
See that you note everything in a pocket note book, to avoid confusions , facing troubles for minor reasons.
Experience the new assignment in a new way .
