Hi Ratna,

I can understand your situation , Tell me one thing your responsibilities here … had they brief you abt this before hiring .

I know you are disappointed, and it can happen to anyone if you are doing something else …. And working like this environment…...

As far as company is concern every company has its own way of working, in your case this is unique way of working ……

Everyone gets a lesson here The Importance of profile. If profile is something else and you wanna do something else you really need to think.

And take the decision for you future.

Before joining any new company remember these lessons.

Do Well,

Regards,

Hi Sunita,
Don't u worry. This kinda environment seems tobe there in startup companies where the directors or senior management are the owners/Partners. They will start the company with minimum experience and, are not aware of expertise in different departments. Actually they are scared to give the opprtunity to their employees and certainly they lack growth plans.
Look for the new job. In the meanwhile try to learn new HR policies & procedures to understand best HR practices.
All the best:)

Most of the technical people they don't know the value of HR, if they are owners cum directors you can't do any thing. Each and every person among us may be faced this type of situations. however You have to work very carefully and each and every thing which you suggest should be in the organisational deveopment or cost control point of view. Then they will here you. If you want to tell something about arrangement of drinking water you have to show them how it is causing for unauthorised absentism, attrition, how the best HR practices will attract the talent and retain the talent etc. find a Mgt graduate among them and discuss with him.
Meanwhile you are in very pathetic stage update your resume in jobsites and don't discuss it in the interview where you attend

Hi Ratna,
I don’t find this situation is very strange. Many of us might have been/seen the same scenario when started our career as HR. Self awareness is something which will help you take the informed decision whether to quit the job or continue.
Just look at the scenario from different angle and think-is this something you only making them to behave in such manner with you? Likewise other staff members too. Very important for all the staffs that are having the problem with Directors that- changing the culture first needed to understand the culture, adapting, evaluate and then bring about the change which is vital for the success of the organization. You and other staff members need not to be frustrated and do not undervalue the Directors of the Company. Its all about Management style that they believe in and if you can take up the challenge to bring this systems in proper shape I think this is going to be the best learning place for you from HR prospective.

Best wishes,
Manasvi

Dear Sunita
The problem you face, will be faced by others also in small to medium sized companies. you have to fight for your rights or you have to quit. These peoples have no empathetic feelings towards the staffs, because of their business making mind.
Before quiting as a HR Professional, make them aware that it costs a lot in long term.

Hi.
Don't worry think positive, this is also a good experience to understand that some time first you have to think about company strength / environment/ reportling relationship then accept any offer or assignment
Try to come up with the situation, Ask to some good consultant to place you some other company.
Thanks

Dear All,

Thanks for your time and support.

Firstly, I would like to answer all your questions; it is a family run Organization, (owners = directors=CEO=MD=VP), I am working with this company since Jan 2008, at the time of my joining there was no HR person in the team, only directors are there, and my job responsibilities includes (as mentioned in JD):- Recruiting, Hiring, training, performance management, policy recommendation, salary & benefits, team building, employee relations, personnel and administration functions; etc .

At the time of my joining: - For recruitment process, they never bothered to provide me any project details, and expected for good hiring, I use to gather all the information from team leaders, for hiring process they think no need to discuss any thing from HR, they used to discuss/negotiate everything by their own ,for performance management – when ever I discuss about new joining performance report, they don’t have time to discuss any thing as fresher’s are not so important and about rest employees they claim to know them better then me , when ever I recommend any policy , they are not convinced ,
For salary and other benefits, they decide, and never bothered to inform me.

But after some dire experience with other employees they realize that one HR person is necessary for the company to perform as an advocate for both employer and the employee’s .I was so happy that at least they start value the HR and now I can prove my self and I was looking forward with healthier prospective. I was putting my best efforts for the company and employees, but they never encourage me, from the starting they don’t have any policy to celebrate any occasion , after my joining I talk to my directors about it , first they refuse to talk about it , but after a long discussion they had agree to celebrate project deployments , everybody was so happy with the celebrations except for our BOSS , after 4 days of party they instruct me not to conduct any party in the future , and if employees wants to celebrate then they can go outside the workplace and celebrate by their own. I really want to improve the working conditions for the employees, but failing to do so.

Now I am frustrated, I have struggled to improve the place, but again it is out of my control. I am confused and unhappy. I know one thing that they really need me in the organization, but to continue here, I have to act as they want. At the same time I am looking for new job options as well, but due to recession I am getting better options.

I know it’s easy to move on but difficult to stay and try for improvement, and since they had realized my worth in the past situation/s, I really want to try one more time, and for that I require guidance from my seniors , from all of you.

Please guide me and correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks & Regards,

S. Ratna
