Hello Jaya Lavanya,

I'm a Human Resources Officer from Panama, and I will tell you this,

The laws can be different but the processes are very similar.

When we are doing the recruitment and selection process, to be able to go ahead and consider or confirm the job offer to the aplicant, we do need the original certificates,

But You Should not give your original certificates and that is. Don't do that again. If they required the certificates, tell them you are going to bring the original ones and they can make copies of them or you can make some copies and take the original ones with you. ( for them be able to double check the info.)

What happens, ceritificates can be alterated or falsified, and we have to be sure about the information the aplicant is giving us.

Do not allow this practice, if an employee is requesting to own your certificates, it is complete illegal and no necessary, because the porpuse of it, is to re- assure the info, not to own something that is not us.

Well, experiences to learn from. Now, follow the process and keep a copy of every email you send and every response they give, because if you need to take step forwards you have some proof that you have dealt with the situation politely and for some time now.

This is a news to me that organizations do accept original certificates as a collateral security from their
employees. It is true that some unaided schools are collecting original certificates from the teaching staff
members, so that they should continue to work in the school as a bonded labourer.
In this case, please request politely to your management that you are getting married soon hence the
decision of separation is taken by you from the company. If required meet your MD personally and put up
the request for ordering to release the certificates.
Still, if they are not complying with your request, go to Police and lodge a complaint seeking intervention of
Police.

It is really great to know about the receiving of your original documents by you. For future, present your original certificates only at the demand of H. R. for physical verification of photocopy of the documents you have submitted to the organization at the time of your joining.
