This is related to EDLI amendment which was done on 24.5.2016. As per the amendment edli benefit amount has been shoot up from Rs, 3,60,000/- to Rs.6,00,000/- Mode of calculation is like this: Rs,15000/- x 30 = Rs,4,50,000/- + Rs. 1,50,000/- = Rs. 6,00,000/-
Now the contractor labour whose wages is Rs. 12000/- per month and PF balance is almost nil. He joined on 1.6.2016 died on 7.7.2016 due to accident. He will get EDLI benefit Rs.12,000/- x 30 = Rs. 3,60,000/- + additional amount Rs.1,50,000/- Thus Total Rs. 5,10,000/- Is it right calculation as per new amendment?

Dear Akhati,
If the Pf is almost nil, 30 times of salary will only be eligible towards EDLI. Second part of 1,50,000/- is the ceiling amount of 50% of average PF deposit during the last 12 months or total service, whichever is less.
