There is a new method I came across w.r.t. leaves. This is called a sandwich of leaves if the weekend falls during the leave period applied by a person. If I am entitled to take 9 leaves (earned leaves) and if applied on a friday and resuming work on the following tuesday, weekends come during the period. Wanted to know would the weekly off that i am entitled to is considered as a paid time off or do they remain as weekly off. This procedure will hamper the leaves balance accumulated by me. Is this the right way as per the leave policy as far i understand i am entitled for the weekly off's as well.
Kindly provide an insight on this senario.

As far as my understanding goes, the weekly off’s are marked as "Leave Without Pay" if there is no leave balance accumulated.

Dear Friends,
Pl. note that the Earned Leaves are caluculated basing on the working days. If an employee is going on Earned leave then the intervening W offs & Holidays are not part of leaves and those days need to be paid on par with such days where an employee is on regular working.
Deducting salary for those days & counting those days as part of leave is against the rules under Factories act / shops and establishments act.

- Depends on company policy. - Normally, to be eligible for weekly - off (or holiday - off) one should work the day before or the day after. Accordingly the total leave availed will be calculated.

again it is vary to organisation to organisation. Better you should first check with HR team what is the leave policy.
