Hi
Many companies follow different strategies. One commonly used method is as under.
All employees of the organisation contribute a fixed amount or one days salary or half a days salary.
The Management then contributes equal contribution. This works well where the number is between 1000 employees to 10000 employees.
Very big companies with 20000 to 50000 employees may restrict this to the division.
In very small companies the amount so collected may be very small but nevertheless, they can also practice this.

Agree with Siva. Apart from each employee contributing a day's salary with matching contribution from the company, you may also try:
1. Help in settlement of claims: Insurance ( Both his own and any compamy benefit related)
2. Any employable person in the family can be considered for recruitment.
