I am faced with a problem , we are having a bpo voice process a bunch of them created community in ORKUT and wher by misused logos and products , which came to our notice only when one of the clients from US mailed us about this instance.
when questioned they said they did it for fun, but it has left a bad taste in our mouth , will you please advice me what all actions are to be take on such instances

If the employees using company's name and logo for certain business purpose, then it is ok, but that also with the knowledge of management.
For misusing company's name and logo is not correct and according to the extend of misusing severe action could be taken.

First check out how many members are using ur company logo, company name.
If the company name & logo is used for their business purpose(employee personal business use) in the sense u can terminate them without any prior information before terminating make clear and u should not settle them their amount and should not give the experience letter, reliving letter and salary slip. You can also approach the crime branch which takes the leagle action for such kind of members. IN chennai there is a crime brance in egmore but i do not know where it is in kerela.
If the company name & logo is used for their fun purpose ask the employee not to do so & inform them If caught memo will be given and will be terminated without the salary & settlement.
(you willnot be able to guess if the employee enters in to orkut with some other name)
Arrange a meeting tell them politely as to accept the situation about the company norms and standards and also the orkut misuse of employees.
The same proble we have faced in our org. we ordered the employee(employee personal business purporse) to complete the project with no profit for him if he refuses to do so he will be complained to the crime branch and he will be priosened for 3yrs. with a fine of rupees 10k to 25k it depends on the cases.

This must have happened inadvertantly without realising the consequences of their actions by those who r involved.That definitely does not mean that their actions can be condoned.Legal action can taken but as i said it must have happened without any wrong intentions.Everybody needs to be given a second chance to correct themselves.Give a stern warning & forgive and forget.But if repeated again take severe action.

After giving him the warning not to do so if he accepts the warning and get's himself in to the correct path we can leave him without any penalty. If he repeats the mistake you can retain(Profit) the amount according to your loss (organization loss). This is what we have done for two people in our org. as per norms.
