Hello everyone, I’ve recently joined with a start-up company & I need to hire quality freshers. Can anyone guide me about the on-campus recruitment procedure? Best Poonam

While Campus hiring, one should be pay attention on the academic calendar (generally it is April/May to ~March/April).
1) List out the subjects / domain / specific skills you are targeting to hire (for example: Nano Technology, Polymer Science, Laser Welding and so on). Good companies used to approach by 2 to 3 semesters before the final examination and block the students. College have policies that once a student have been selected by one company, can not apply to the others.
2) List out the colleges having above subjects, send your detailed inquiry (brief phone call followed by detailed email) to the placement officer stating your intention to hire "N" qty of interns of so and so skill sets; along with a brief introduction of your company and indication of facilities / remuneration being offered by the company.
I strongly suggest to visit each of the shortlisted college and see the college facilities, infrastructure, Labs, their excellence centers, incubation labs etc. randomly meet some faculties and college environment.
2a) Remember, you are targeting for creme / toppers, to attract them, make a good company presentation and one page summary / poster : which placement officer may stick on the notice board.
2b) Get appointment with placement officer and visit college for a brief presentation (with target students).
2c) Carry some product examples (if you have) or explain by using a presentation about your company, career path, benefits (like free meal, pick and drop, health benefits, soft loan for higher education etc.) / remuneration (indicative breakup of stipend / salary after completing probation, bonus if any), company culture etc etc)
3) Make a detailed plan of campus interview and share with Placement officer: For example
i) Detailed Technical Test (60 min) | 9AM to 10AM
ii) Shortlisting based on test + some weightage based on their projects / marks to date (get students marks info and CVs in advance from the placement officer) | 10AM to 10.30AM
iii) Group discussion / One to one discussion | 10.30AM to 12 Noon
iv) You can announce the result soon after that or go back, review it internally in your company and send the final selected student list. Don't forget to include Backup persons (in case some one drop your offer). Consider some RISK factor (say you hired 4 persons, but after one month, 1 or 2 interns leaves the company) and make backup plan.
v) Send the LOI (through the placement officer) and get the consent.
i) You may provide some theme for advance research or during the remaining semesters
ii) You may provide them some special allowance
iii) Invite them for a week or a day (random) to the office
Note: Some good university have online method of campus hiring (they may send you a registration link and where you may fill the all relevant information (and prerequisite information). Target students will be automatically alerted and if they are interested, they will apply or show the interest.
Tip: Avoid consultants and establish direct contact with students through the placement officer.
Tried to explain it in few words, but there is abundance of opportunities to innovate and sync with the colleges for freshers hiring.
