In one case PF department asked us to mention next day as the day of death. But in another case PF deaprtment insisted us to mention the same day as the day of death.Though we are clear the same day should be taken us the day of death.

Any employee who expired during employment , his/her last day of employment should be the day of death otherwise the PF membership of the employee will be ceased before death. Contribution for the day of death should be paid if the employee is eligible for that i.e the employee was not in leave without pay.

For EPF benefits on death employee should be on the rolls when he dies, not necessarily physically working.

The salary can be paid on the day the employee died and the date of leaving the job can also be given on the same day.

For example:-
If the employee comes to duty on January 01, 2021 and he dies after half day or the end of duty, which date will you enter?
By law, the date will be on the same day. If you see, you will find that the contribution of the employee in the Employees' Provident Fund is mainly seen till member under the law. . Because the date of leaving the job means that after that date no contribution of the employee will be deposited (in the said employment).
You can also understand this in such a way that if the employee is a member of provident fund in any company X and after doing duty on 15 January 2021, joins another company Y on 16 January 2021, then you have to mention date of leaving in company X and The date has to be mentioned as 15 January 2021. Whereas Company Y will mention DOJ 16 January 2021 in his respective unit.
if you mentioned date of leaving 16 Jan 2021 in X company then how Y company will mention same date in their respective company.
