Mere pursuing PG Diploma in Labour Laws will not serve the purpose of learning of labour/statutory industrial laws. You need to practise it by ensuring its application
in a real situation.
Perusing book of "Labour & Industrial Laws" by P.L.MALIK gives indepth understanding
of labour laws.

I do agree with the suggestion of learned member for perusing "Labour & Industrial Law" by P L Malik for comprehensive and in-depth study. However, the other option is to go through the book "Labour Laws - Everybody should know"by H L Kumar which provides study of all labour laws & its compliance in a capsule form!

In my opinion, Post Graduate Diploma in Labor Law would be academically more advantageous to an M.Com.graduate. A systematic course of study in Labor Laws will certainly place a student in a position to know the evolution of labor jurisprudence, the application of other laws like the CrPC, CPC, IPC. Indian Evidence Act, Constitutional law etc., to labor issues and thus make his understanding broad-based. In addition, he should cultivate the habit of going through labor law journals to understand the changes in judicial trends from time to time. Popular HR& Industrial Relations veterans like Madhu.T.K, Sen Sharma, Dr.P.B.S.Kumar etc., have penned wonderful articles on various labor laws in their Blogs and books on labor laws with elaborate commentaries such as the ones cited by the other two learned members - all these would enhance the knowledge of any student undergoing institutional studies in labor laws.

Dear Friends,
I agree with Umakanthan Sir. Post Graduate Diploma in Labor Law would be academically more advantageous.
But I would like to suggest Mr. Arif if he wants to learn statutory compliance then to do 6 months course of Executive Development Programme in Labour Laws by XLRI. This program is designed by Prof. P. K. Padhi. One of my friends did it which I came to know yesterday.

For compliance of labour laws buy all acts applicable to your firm with state rules.
