hosh-talks
Dear Sirs/madams, I have 15 years of work experience as Accounts Assistant with advance IT skills having exposure to Payroll accounting and policies, HRMS, software and web development environment, fund management, cost verification, liaison, and passenger despatch management during flood rescue operations and various admin related tasks.
I have done courses like BCA, MA sociology(+UGC NET), PG Dip in Labour Law and Administrative Law while being in job.
I wish to go for a career in HR management. What course should I do now from distance mode? I am working.
Can I get a job of HR manager with my existing qualification and experience?
Thank you all in advance. Your guidance will help me a lot.

Dear Haren,

This is in addition what Bijay has said. Yes, one should choose a job that is allied with one's qualification. However, this is not a dogma as such. I recommend you choosing any job that maintains your stature.

You are a ex-defence personnel. Your job in defence must have taught you structured way of thinking/working or organised way of thinking/working. Additionally, ex-defence personnel are adaptable too. Use these qualities to get into the departments like customer service, purchase etc. There is no need to wait for the job in HR as such.

If you are from Ludhiana then you may join as a factory manager in some factory also. Remove the blinkers that you are a non-technical personnel. I have seen ex-defence personnel entering into unknown field and doing exceptionally well. This is because of their learning attitude and positive thinking. You too will be no exceptional.

All the best from ex-Air Force person.

Dear Haren Tripathi,

You are holding PG Dip in Labour Law and Administrative Law. You have work experience in Payroll accounting and policies, HRMS, software and web development environment, fund management, cost verification, liaison etc. You are ex-Air Force.

Your background can be suited to Factory Administration perfectly. As suggested by Dinesh Divekar, you can explore an opportunity for the position of Factory Manager or HR Manager in Manufacturing unit. Make your vision clear and march towards to achieve it. You can pursue ISTD diploma.

ISTD diploma is a distance learning Programme of 18 months duration but it is recognised by Govt. of India for training of trainers in the country and is designed to meet today’s Training/HRD challenges. At present a large number of ISTD Diploma holders are occupying senior positions in the field of Training & Development/Human Resource Development in various Central Government Departments, Public and Private organisations. You can add value to you by this.

Another option, you can go for LLB.

All the best.

Hi Haren,
Your technical background could help you in the HR field if you try out a course in HR related ERP.
Now most companies especially those migrating from the SAP HANA to S/4 HANA platform are trying to invest in major digital transformation initiatives on the basis of HR analytics and AI.
