Our company is registered under shops and establishment. We have ESIC facilities to our employees. Should we provide medical insurance to the female employees who don’t come under ESIC.

It would be fair enough to provided medical insurance cover to those employees not only female but also for males who are not covered under ESIC.

Yes agreed with Mr.Kumar, it would be advisable to cover all above ESIC slabs as a part of employee welfare.
It is mandatory for female employees to be covered under Medical Insurance with Maternity Benefits.
You can go through the Maternity Benefit Act,wherein you can find the conditions.

Hi Partner,
I also do agree with Kumar and Venkat that irrespective of gender it is better to cover all employees above the ESIC slab, under private medical insurance.
If medical insurance premium costs to be borne by the company are a problem here, you have options where you can negotiate with the service provider for a base coverage plan, whose premium would be paid by the company. For additional coverage features listed, in the form of top up coverage premium this can be deducted from the employee payroll based on the top up coverage plan opted by the employee. But again this would be possible if you have a large number of employees in thousands.

That apart, it would be a matter of concern for establishments to take care of accident insurance & life insurance for liabilities arising 'in the course of employment'. As such it is necessary that mediclaim like health cover and accident policy are arranged in respect of those not covered under ESIC.
