Minimum Wages once fixed will be applicable for the scheduled industry for at least five years or until a new fixation is made. Fixation is a lengthy process involving forming committee of trade union representatives, employers'representatives, labour department officials etc. For each scheduled employment the same practice should be followed. Though the basic wages fixed will be in force till a new rate is fixed, there will be changes in the variable dearness allowances which is linked to the consumer price index of various districts of Kerala, as published by the Department of Economics and Statistics. Unlike other states where the DA will be announced for half year or for the year, in Kerala the same is calculated monthly or bi monthly depending upon the changes in the CPI. Since the basic rate of wages and the rate of DA differ from industry to industry, in the absence of the nature of industry/ scheduled employment we are not in a position to give you any idea about he minimum wages. It is advisable to visit the official website of Labour Commissioner, Kerala and get the rates applicable to your establishment. Please follow the link.
Minimum Wages Notifications
Please note that the rates are basic rates and you should pay DA also for which separate provision is given in the notification itself.
