With paradigm changes in the way businesses are operating in India , are Trade Unions still relevant ? If yes, can you provide certain recent examples/incidences to highlight relevance. - CiteHR

Thank you for your interest, Ma'am/Sir.
Since cinema has been one of the effective ways of learning, I am analysing a movie that depicts ethical dilemmas of the trade union and challenges of industrial relations.
Thanks

Dear colleague,
It is still relevant for sweated labour/ unorganized workers / Contingent workers who are not paid even subsistence wages let alone minimum wages under the law. They are deprived of many basic amenities and have to work long hours besides being subjected to several injustices at work places.
In organized sector, the wage levels, fringe benefits and working conditions have far improved through TU presence and therefore their influence is waning.

It is always relevant and important. As long as low wages, harsh working conditions continue in different surreptitious manner the need for trade unions exist. But the union activity needs to come overboard which would help their visibility and sustain support.
