Hello, We are registered under the Goa Shop & Establishment act. I would like to know if its OK to reduce the duration of maternity leave to the female employees from 26 weeks to 8 weeks? Please advice.

What is prescribed in law of the land cannot be cut down by your office.
Are you paying her for the period of leave?
Sec 18 and 19 of the Goa Shops and Establishment act refers and any amendments thereto.
