Dear Akash,
Before replying your query, let me ask you a question - why employee training is conducted? The employee training is conducted for the following reasons:
a) To reduce some cost
b) To reduce the consumption of resources
c) To reduce the turnaround time of some process and
d) To increase or decrease of some ratio
Therefore, I recommend you decide the number of hours of the employee training after deciding the goal that you would like to achieve. What is the use of the training if no end-result or positive change is achieved?
Yes, there are few companies, even very big companies have some hours reserved per employee per financial year. But then we need not emulate them blindly.
Employee training is not just a formality wherein training calendar is prepared and meticulous records are maintained about planned Vs executed training programme. Have just a few training programmes, but measure the change also. To bring a change, some departments may require an extra number of hours. In order to attain the organisational change, nothing wrong to create an imbalance in allotment of the number of hours of training.
