Normally credit to leave a/c is given only on 1st Jan.of any year. If HR policy stipulates some other date it is their policy. However excepting CL other regular leave like EL/PL, medical/sick leave have to be given credit on completion of one year service and like wise every year. Some times when a fresher requires leave on emergency proportionate leave for past service months, proportionately can be given. There is no advance credit of Maternity Leave. You have to follow Maharashtra(Mumbai) Shops & Commercial Estt.Act.
There are some practices in some firms to commence on 1st April as per their tradition. But this is not common.
