Our company daily working hours are 9 hours including 30 min lunch break .In a week we are working for 54 hrs including break and 1 weekly off. Is it correct legally
My question is as per Shop act in a week working hour should not exceed 48hrs or otherwise it should be 5 days working .
We do not provide any OT .Please help me so decide office timing norms

Dear Madam,
You are right, the working hours under the Shops Act in Maharashtra, are 8 hours excluding half an hour lunch break. The timings should comply with this. If you are daily working for 9 hours, it is violation and when detected by the Shops inspector, will entail punishment.

Rule position has been amply brought out-48 hrs in a week. Though ,in offices all over India, large number of employees work /are made to work more than that. Col.Suresh Rathi
