Understanding the functional part of an ERP such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, Navision, IBS will definitely
take your career to next level. Choose any one based on your resources.
If you ask me, I'd say knowing how calculations are done in PF & ESI are equally important.
Links below may provide you with advanced understanding in PF & ESI:

Hi Andy,
Before you decide on the certificate courses as mentioned above, please consider the below points.
It's very clear and true that technology is evolving and HR functions of many companies uses HR system/technology. Companies of any size started realizing the need for HR technology and hence, many new companies started implementing HR system and few companies are migrating to a better HR system provider.
There are wider scope for all the service providers you have mentioned above, they are leaders in the market and they have great market share. Check in Gartner website about HCM ranking to find the leader.
So, basis your experience you should be able to understand the functional part of the system and request to do a search on available positions on the said providers, the skills required and the advantages.
For example, search for Workday consultants and then understand the required competence. Continue this for your desired system and positions and take a decision on your own.
Other important factor is salary. Let's say your current salary is X, and there may be a position in that system for beginners (remember, you are fresher to system and 9 years is not your experience in the system, you just have a certificate).
Will you accept a position with a reduced salary of 20 - 50% of what you take now? Check the salary range for fresh hands with the HR system. Check the available positions in the market and make a note of the salary and skills and conclude yourself.
