Without sounding technical, artificial intelligence means a machine imitating the human intelligence in performing tasks in a most similar way as humans do. For ex. the 'Google Assistant' will perform limited tasks sought by people like sending a message to some one etc.One level above is the humanoid robot 'Sofia' of IBM.They will be employed to perform routine tasks which humans used to do You can say they will be the future assistants in hardware and software but not in flesh blood.

Intelligence by definition is "the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills". Human beings and pretty much every living thing acquires intelligence - and we do so either via genetics, where certain traits are hard wired into our responses and abilities or by mimicking successful transactions. Like for example a human baby would learn how to open a door by observing others and assimilating the movements required to "open the door".
Artificial intelligence is about being able to replicate this "applying of knowledge" by an instrument - like a computer. A lawn mower also has a certain kind of intelligence - in its structure of blades we have hard coded the way the blade needs to move to be able to cut the grass efficiently. But a lawn mower lacks the ability to learn new things. An artificially intelligent instrument will be able to do that - and it does that by collecting data (just like we do) and by trying different things and remembering the outcomes - "cause and effect".
In HR, AI can quite literally revolutionise the reasons why HR exists. Right now the HR department exists to manage people and all the procedures that go into making them more productive and accountable. So the paper work, the training, the performance monitoring, the rewards, the counselling etc etc. A lot of these functions can greatly be improved by using AI enabled instruments. For example much of the paper work, the monitoring can be automated (and there are many startups working on each specific elements) - giving the HR practitioner more time to focus on the true element of what they do - the "human" element.
So in the future (perhaps as little as 20 years) the core function of HR would become more about guiding/counselling people, the wizards (him or her - not being gender biased here) who with their AI augmented wisdom would help the team stay focussed and keep them happy and growing.

First understand what Humans do. They learn and apply the experience when performing same task. e.g. You learn to drive and more you experience more you become efficient. AI is same intelligence in machines. Till now programs are programmed for 2+2=4. Now we are giving them power to think and justify 2+2=4 not just because we said so but they think so.
Now computer may also say I think I can do it.

I am developing a solution that can answer large volumes of HR queries instantly using AI. No more intranets, no more portals, no more HR service desk queues. I see it having great potential.

AI works only when the companies have no trust on humans or humans have no trust on each other. These days people are not thinking about themselves or others because of importance in earning money.
To stop AI! People have to support and believe each other or else they even have to loose their jobs.
