Hello Everyone,
One of our employee's father needs to have an Angioplasty. I sent him to the ESIC hospital, where the authorities have told him that the member has to have at least two years of contribution in the ESIC to avail facilities such as Angioplasty. I need to know if this is true and what else can be done so as to help him.
Regards
Saurabh.

Hi,
As per my knowledge for Extended Sickness Benefit under ESIC an Insured Persons should have been in continuous employment for 2 years or more at the beginning of a spell of sickness in which the disease is diagnosed.
Refer : Extended Sickness Benefit
I am unaware of the intricacies of the same.
The site mentions a toll free no for any queries.

This is a case of super specialty treatment to family/ dependents. As per the ESI norms an employee is entitled to super specialty treatment after 3 months of service on a condition that he has paid 39 days' contribution. In respect of family members and dependent parents, this is six months service with contribution of 78 days respectively. For this the benefit period requirements as applicable to sickness benefits is not applicable, I understand. However, very recently, the government has decided to make it 2 years service but then dropped considering some protests. I am not sure if the decision has been withdrawn officially.
