Dear Mr. Davinder,

Please get my suggestion for your queries:

1. LL.B is a full time course. The same has to be approved by the Bar Council of India, so that after finishing the course one can start practice.

2. After completing the course, you need to go to the BCI for registration, where after verification of all documents you need to seat in a all India test for getting license to practice.

3. After succeeding the exam you need to take registration in your local bar and thereafter you can move for private practice.

Though there are some university offer LL.B or B.A.L via distance mode but in the prospectus there is always mentioned that the same is not recognized by the BCI and not meant for practice. But after this you can always do further study like LL.M, but again BCI has made mandatory to recruit only full time LL.M candidates for faculty position.

My suggestion is you may not practice in court after retirement, but you can do consultancy.

1. If you are a science graduate, prepare to seat for patent agent exam. I mean to say just master the Intellectual Property Laws. there are several courses like M.B.L from NUJS which you can learn and get examined via online mode. Beside please do not limit yourself only to MBL start personal study also. As I believe MBL will only act like a tag in your business card.

2. You can also start as a Tax consultant.

3. You can even start as a Labour Law consultant (PF, ESI, CLRA, S&E Act) which is very challenging and you do not need any LL.B degree only knowledge.

4. Another booming business can be maintenance of MIS. As different Co.'s hire MIS professionals.

5. I know some people who are earning good by only maintaining the statutory registers and notices of a Co.

There are several options available, we had to know only the right path.
