Hello All,
We are an Automotive MNC having 5 plants in India. All HR Managers at all locations have a yearly calendar for Employee Engagement and Organizational Development activities, which includes smallest activities like that of celebration of birthday parties to "Coffee With MD" etc.
I am in lookout of calculating the employee engagement activities that we are doing. How do I calculate the effectiveness of this ? Is questionnaire (having ratings from 1 to 5, for example) the only option ? Is there any other way to know the score ?
Please help.
Regards,
Shaunak

Dear Shaunak,

Employee engagement cannot be measured directly. However, it can be measured from the following:
a) Number of suggestions received per employee per year
b) Rate of Employee Attrition
c) Number of times employees volunteered to take up new activities
d) Overall culture of teamwork in the company
Thanks,

How to measure culture, team work and bring in a number?
Employee engagement when high activities become a celebration and in organisations when a small activity is perceived by the recipient as a celebartion then it scores
high. This is a perception index and not a performance index

Hi Dinesh
It is really appreciable that you guys are thinking to bring modifications in the current Employee Engagement Activities; to improve productivity of employees. If you search a bit on google, you may find lots of creative activities companies are trying these days, e.g - Treasure Hunt, Sports events, Annual day, company day (where employees are asked to participate in activities like - singing, dancing, instruments play) and many others.
However, it is recommendable for you to first get to know from employees what is their Employee Engagement Feedback till now before you joined the organisation. A quick research can help you get this data.
The survey data obtained will be much more helpful in figuring out what employees need. Without knowing employee feedback it might not bring the desired results.

The most common way to measure engagement is using surveys, but that’s not all you should be using.
Surveys are only one part of the process, and only one way of measuring. Employee engagement is a complex issue that requires effort from everyone in the organization. Surveys (no matter how frequent), simply aren’t enough. A software like Office vibe’s employee engagement platform an help you keep a constant pulse on your team’s engagement.
Here are a few ways you could be measuring employee engagement on a regular basis.
1. Pulse Surveys
2. One-On-Ones
3. Stay/Exit Interviews
4. Employee Net Promoter score
