I believe that doing an employee survey wherein you have a face to face interaction and they have to give answers in writing would give you more genuine results as the people would think and write and in the discussions, we can get more insights and ideas from the team.
an online survey, though convenient and fast, will not give you the real feelings and insights as choosing one of the options from the given list would never force the person to think and introspect.
