Central Armed para military force. Like CRPF, BSF, ITBP, etc, Three year’s contract on renewal basis. Working for last 7 years in Composite Base Hospital.

Sec.2(1) of the Maternity Benfit Act makes it applicable to govt.establishments also and it shall also be applicable, in my view, to CAPF, it being a establishment and the Act does not contain any provision excluding para military establishments or armed forces.However the Act is applicable to a woman employee.Therefore whether the nature of terms of contract of service, you have with CAPF will determine whether you will be an employee or an independent consultant and in the latter case it will not be applicable to you.

Most Govt. Cos / Estts. have been liberal in interpreting & implementing social welfare Acts compared to private managements which have to work on cut throat competition and sanctioning of long leave becomes a problems for the reason posting substitute & then removing the substitute after the women employee resuming duty after MB.
