i'm in the last semester of my MBA waiting to be placed...

Hi Sherwani,
This is a very normal query or confusion any new MBA passout would have. Well, Recruitment and HR Generalist role are both very critical part of HR. As you would already know Recruitment deals in selection & staffing of the employees, however the entire life cycle of an employee from joining to separation will be covered under HR generalist role. This will include Compensation & Benefit, Performance Management, Employee Engagement and Exits as well. I would suggest as a fresh MBA you should not have any block in your mind. Both the experiences are necessary to become a true & successful HR person. Just go haed with which ever role you get in a good firm.
Good Luck & let me know in case of clarification on the same.
Thanks,
Hena

CAREER,
FROM a career point of view,
my suggestion is grab the opportunity to join a company
as a HR generalist, as this gives you a good learning / development point , to
-learn wider aspects of HR
-test your aptitude for specialisation
-to exposure to a wide section of business operation
-experience in interpersonal interaction

etc etc
WISH YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006
