Dear Seniors,, If an Employee resigns as he/she got a better offer how positively should management/HR dept. take it? Please share your comments and views. Regards, Divi

f an employee wants to leave the organisation for better prospects, there are two ways an employer can positively respond --
1) He shall recognize the employee's right to pursue better opportunities and ensure that he gets proper relieving and service certificates and on the day of his exit ,wish him a good career ahead and letting him also know that the doors are open to him if he wishes to rejoin latter. This kind of response exudes warmth and does not burn bridges.
2) In the second kind of response, if the employee leaving is a critical resource and the employer wants to retain him, the employer can call the employee , inquire about the offer and make a counter offer with better job profile promotion or compensation as per the demands of the situation. If the employee still wants to leave, the employer shall follow steps in point(1).
This is my view. Other views are welcome.
