I need to know about suitable performance appraisal method for a tea exporting company as i have assigned to propose a good performance appraisal and evaluate their job performance.According to their performance level I have to make salary hikes.They are working in various kinds of machines.So please Give me instructions how to conduct a good performance appraisal for our employees.

Performance Appraisal can be 'Goal based' or 'Competencies based'. Sometimes it is a mix of both.
For the previous year, since no goal setting & tracking seems to have been done in your organization, you may plan having an Appraisal System in which each employee (and his/ her Manager) records the achievements made by the employee. Also employee is evaluated on some generic competencies (like discipline/ punctuality in attendance, quality consciousness at work place, focus on results, team spirit etc...).
If all your employees have access to computers, self reporting is possible; otherwise the Manager/ Supervisor can initiate the performance appraisal in respect of all his/ her team members. You can make that decision. But you need to use a ready made solution like 'EmpXtrack' default system. This will help you to complete with grace the task at hand.
