I received an offer letter via email from Deloitte as the date of joining as 5 April and I replied via email that I accept the offer and they also sent me multiple emails for other formalities along with the action plan for 5 and 6 of April. However on 2 April they send me an email telling me that my DOJ is changed TENTATIVELY to 19 April. I was completely shocked as I didn't expect such thing from a fortune 100 company. I had resigned from my previous org after getting this offer letter on March 15 itself as I wanted to spend 15 days with my family. Now I am completely in a helpless situation as I am unaware of the company's course of action. The reason for delay was sited as delay in Background verification.

I have relocated to a different place in the same city since I got this offer from Deloitte and in such a scenario if I dont get a months salary I am in a horrible situation. Please suggest me what I can do next to resolve this issue and so that I get compensated for my loss of 15 days salary. I also brought my notice period in my previous org for this position at Deloitte.

I need to be compensated and I am ready to proceed legally also. Please send me links of sample letter for such type of scenario if any one has it.

I am in trouble please help!!!

Hey its all fine. Not a very big deal if the reason is delay in background verification.
Generally Background verification starts once employee joins the company and it takes around a month or 45 days. And during this period employee do not get any work.
So even if they are delaying by some days its all fine. Not an issue at all.
Yeah I agree that you will lose 15 day salary, but its fine. Its a very good company. Do not worry about these 15 days.

Dear Laxmi
First of all congrats!!!! Its a great company to work for.....
Second thing don`t worry buddy.....these kind of things happen with background verification. No need to take such an extreme action of sending a legal notice.
I can understand about you being without salary for even 15 days but its worth to wait for.
Be blessed and stay with your family little longer :)

Dear Friend,
Congratulations for getting a great opportunity to work in such esteemed organisation, it sounds very good and nice that an organisation is regularly following its code of conduct, policies made for employees even for them too.
As preparing policy, code of conduct and ethics is a big frame work of any company but following, implementing it is itself a good remark and shows value of an oragnisation.
So wait for some more time until their process is not benign completed as per their norms and standards, after the verification has been done you shall definitely get final call for joining.
Best Wishes.

Dear Lakshmikanth, (Pardon me if I spell it correctly)
I would like to endorse what other friends have commented. It's not correct to start a promising career with a legal battle, it might affect your face value and future prospects. But nothing wrong explaining them your difficulties in a friendly atmosphere, if you consider it right.
I also could understand your predicament. I have a suggestion, why don't you visit the concerned and explain to them your difficulties. May be there one who could hear you sympathetically without going to rule book strictly. Try it out either to advance your DoJ or get you compensated in one way or other, probably you may seek some sort of advance upfront also.
All the best.
