Dear Shalini ji,
PDCA cycle is a methodology which can be adopted by anyone not only in any particular industry but also in our day to day life at home or at work.
This cycle is of Plan, Do, Check & Act is very important in continuous improvement. Rather, continuous improvement is impossible without PDCA cycle.
First you need to plan yourself. Set your goals / objectives.
Then you need to do i.e. implement the plan.
After this you need to check yourself by measuring your progress.
After the check, you need to Act. You need to see whether your goals / objectives are met with, you need to see whether your issues are resolved. If not repeat the cycle untill yes. And if yes, start the new cycle.
Hope I explained this methodology in simple and understandable words.

Hello Shalini,
A lot of information has been given by Mr Simhan, Mr Keshav Kargoankar and Mr Somnath Roy Choudhary.
I found the list of Demings Principle was the only missing link.
PDCA had its origin in Shewarts cycle.
You may find the attachment interesting.
A lucid explanation has been given describing each of Deming Principle.
The attachment is prepared by FDR Safety.
