Dear Members,
While checking the MSDS folders, found that many of the data sheets were 6 - 7 years old. Question is how long is an MSDS good for? Is there any frequency of Renewal of MSDS as per factory Act / Or any other chemical safety related acts.
Request to update the informations about very old MSDS Sheets?

MSDS is valid if there are no changes in manufacturing/application process. Check with the manufacturers on the validity of old MSDS. Pon, Chennai

Dear Sathyan, MSDS remains the same unless their is no change in product. For smart move, Just get the product details shoot a email to manufacturer update the file.

Dear Sathyam
As such there is no act/rule existing in India which says about the Life of MSDS.
Many companies following a life span of 3 years for MSDS as part of their best Safety Management Practices. They make a system in which they contacting the suppliers/manufactures of Chemicals and get the updated MSDS once in three years.
Dear Pon : Thanks for your continuous participation in the EHS forum these days...
Dear Raghu: Welcome back dear... Lets try make the forum active again as like earlier...

Dear Mr.Sathyan ,
As rightly mentioned by Dipilji no such provision in factory act for frequency , But need to be updated by manufacturer with current route of manufacturing process . As a continual improvement if route of manufacturing is changed by manudacturer then he need to revise MSDS considering CHANGED route.
e.g.Process Change Like : In chemical industry if previously washing to final product is given by "A" solvent and if it is replaced with "B".
Customer Control - As a customer we need to audit supplier facility for the same so that supplier also remain alert for updation of MSDS.
Thanks
