Hello, While filling the application form for new employment some companies ask for a Designation/Post in the current organization. In my current organization, there has been change in the designation where all the earlier designation has been made as 'Role Title' and introduced the new common designation.
But new designation doesn't clarify clearly the official role title e.g. the Designation as 'Manager' and Official 'Role Title' as - 'Project Leader' so in this case, it is ok to specify as Role Title as 'Project Leader' in their application form?
Thanks for your earliest answer.

Hi,
There is a fine difference between role and designation/post, Role precedes the designation, role defines the actual function of the particular individual in the group or organization, whereas designation refers to the nomination or appointment of particular person in a group or organization.
To clarify your doubts, I would like to clear it by an example, Just assume if someone is heading/leading a particular department say for example HR department, so his role would be of HR Head, but he may be at any designation in the organization as per his eligibility, he could be a GM, DGM, Manager etc.
So wherever your designation is asked, mention it as "Manager" and when any company ask you about your role you can mention "Project Leader" to them. I hope your doubts are clear now.

Dear Seniors,
The current company has given me Designation as 'Manager' and role title as 'Project Lead-Development'. My role and responsibility in the current organization is based on 'Project Lead-Development'
While applying to new company XYZ they asked for Designation/Post in their application form which I filled as Role Title as 'Project Lead' as this is real role being played by me.
And now I have been selected. Now new company has asked for supporting document for back ground check to verify the information given in the application form for which I have submitted the experience letter which contains both designation and role.
Could you please guide me if it would be a problem when new company identifies my designation as 'Manager' but I filled my role title in their application form.
I would appreciate your earliest and urgent response on this.
