Well going first about Employee Confirmation or training period : it varies from Organisation to organisation as per the laid down Company policies.
In normal cases it is and should be a minimum of 3 moths to 6 months . Some well know corporates & MNCs have 1 yr too as probation period.
Well deciding on the above an HR person has to keep a track of each and every employees' training duration & aaccording sit with the Managers / Team leads and take the feedback & performance review, accordingly confirm an employee with suitable raise in salary too as per company standards for the deserving achievers.

In any organisation if a new employee joins, he/she will be under probation for 3 or 6Months, at max oneyear.If the employee is a goodperfomer his/her employment will be regularised with a salary hike.
in Most of the cases people who are on probation for three months, there service will be regularised, once they completes their 6 months with the organisation, then review takes place for salary hike.
