Dear Friends
I have done my MBA correspondence in HR .As I have done a part-time I did not get any exposure to core Hr activities & apart from that I have work experience of recruitment .Now I am trying to move from recruitment to other areas (i.e core Hr activities), but I have only less things known in core Hr activities & I don’t want to join in HR Practical Trainings as I think it is a waste of time as well as money……
Please suggest me what should I do to get a full knowledge & exposure to Core Hr activities

The best thing to gain practical knowledge in any field is to work in that field. Therefore try to get into a HR-generalist profile in some organisation on getting the first available opportunity. However, simultaneously you need to update your knowledge by reading relevant books, labour laws and blogs as MR.jeevaratnam suggested to relate theory with practice.

Dear A
When you work in field, the field will teach you the lessons that you have to learn and the skills that are required to tackle issues case by case. In the meanwhile, Pl go through the Labour Acts like: Industrial Dispute Act,Contract Labours Act, PF Act,Factories Act,minimum wages act,and payment of wages act. Browse case laws.Try to get the real picture of workers working in small and medium size enterprises, apart from discussing with HR professionals.
All the best

Dear "Anonymous",
HR, apart from the statutory and other provisions (eg Acts, Organisation policies etc) which is to be followed, it entails lots of common sense and judicious in interpretation the non-statutory rules. Be flexible, especially since each human mind is different! HR is to be enjoyed and, like a pilot whose each landing is always different, your approach will be different in each situation. Don't make HR as a "Hostile Relations" - which is prevalent today in many Human Resources Depts.

Dear A,
Good day
HR is not one day match. It is a daily drama.Every face is masked. Don't try to unmask, instead try to visualize the face behind it.That is the game.Try to understand the rules of the game and be earnest, honest and practical in your approach. Then only you will succeed.
What Rajusiachen has quoted is absolutely true.
