Hello Sir,
I have recently join a company dealing with education. My probation period is of 6 month. I am getting average salary but my expectation was more butsince i dont want to create any gap in my career , i joined it. my question is can i ask for salary hike before 6 month or after 6 month or when? although at the time of discussion they told me that as if now they will pay me this and after 6 month they will think of raising but since i was in a need of a job so i joined. Please advice me.

what is your total experience changing job within a span of 6 month is not advisable. If your work is outstanding or remarkable then I think the company will certainly look into your salary hike since no company would like to lose deserving candidates

You are the best judge about how much salary you deserve, having reagrd to your length of expeience, knowledge and skills and others cannot decide what your drawing is mor or less, more so in the absence of any details given. However the decision to change the current job depends up on four factors.
1) the demand and supply postion for a job of your kind in the market,
2) the chances of you getting higher salary elsewhere,
3) the probable time it takes you to get a BETTER job,
4) The immediate needs of yours for a job and your abilty to support yourself till you find a better job.
You can think of all these factors befor taking a call.

Hi, Zeba
Differently they will hike salary, only you deserve your best performance,
Bourdon and work pressure is parameters of jobs; you have to stable your self .
Most of company after probation they hike payment that is up to your performance, and need ,
Before you leave you have get other job that is most important.
Before you leave thinks 100 times of your all parameters for requirement and needs.
Many thanks

Dear Farah.Zeba,

First of all I couldn't mean what you mean by saying dealing in Education. Are you in teaching line or dealing in teaching materials or what else? Notwithstanding,

generally almost no one implement salary hike during a 6 months probation unless otherwise agreed upon during the negotiation that preceded the apptt. If you are still getting nothing like that this would be one of the rarest cases. And ofcourse absolutely there is no bar at all. Excepting that once an increment or a hike in salary is granted during the probation period irrespective of the months, it could easily be construed that he has not only deservingly earned a hike but also deemed to be completed the probation successfully notwithstanding whether or not there a notification issued thereof as such. If you are satisfied with this job and salary you can continue for some time till you gain some more experience and some better opportunities. Otherwise if you quit within this shorter period without any assured employment you may face "neither here nor there" situation. Otherwise think twice before quitting. All the best.
