Dear Ms. Simi,

Employment BGV is very important in means of eliminating dishonest candidates from the list of potential employees only in cae if the current employer is interested to extend any sort of offer to the selected. This feature helps the current employer to understand what work and job details has the candidate persued and also to record the verification from the former employer.

Letter/ email to be written for Employment BGV -

Subject: Letter of Employment Verification

Dear XYZ (Past Employer),

We have appointed (Employee Name) in our (Company Name) as a ______, and would request you to help us provide some details as a note of Background Verification Process.

Give details of what all you are expecting: Experience, Tenure, DOJ and DOL, Address verification etc.

The letter should be very simple and should look as the stats you are asking should be a concern as you are employing a candidate who had alreadyworked with them.

You may also hire a specialist for BGV/company that does verification. The following are few questions that you may ask during verification -

- Employee Job details,

- Date of Employment

- Duties

- Reason for leaving

- Rehire - This is to check if the employee is actually good that the employer would say that they may rehire if possible. (Good remark)

Hello Simi,

As mentioned by others, I am sure by now you are aware of the importance of background verification. It serves as a solution to understand the potential, performance & integrity of candidate irrespective of what has he claimed in the interview. You can term it as cross verifying with candidates current employer. In some cases where he is not working his past employer. Such process has taken pace in last few years after surfacing certain fraudulent cases by employees like mentioning fake experience or boosting their current salary.

When we come to the process both the ways mentioned by you can be used. Depending on your companies process & policies if you would like to keep a record of all the BV then you must follow it in writing. But if you have little or no time in hand before making the offer to candidate, you can immediately call up the previous company and collect the details by yourself. Remember the purpose remains the same but it is a matter of time.

Questions should be precise (not consuming & irritating the employer of candidate);

DOJ

DOR

Employee Code

Job title (designation)

Full time / Part time

Permanent / Contractual

Remuneration

Reason for leaving

Any issue pertaining to employment

Exit formalities completed

Eligible for Rehire

Supervisor's name

Performance review

These questions would suffice your requirement of offering the right candidate.

Dear Simi,

Employee background verification is very much helpful, and necessary, when it comes to hiring a potential employee for a job. Considering the fact that more than half of the job applicants lie to some extent on their resumes, the need for background verification cannot be overlooked. As far as how it can help is concerned, validating your candidates' past employment details, such as work experience, last withdrawn salary, and other related information, can help you make out whether a candidate has required skills and experience needed for the job or not. Simply put, background verification helps make right hiring decisions. Besides, it saves your money that you can lose to bad-hire. A bad hiring decision can cost up to five times a bad hire's annual salary. Thus, when you choose the right candidate for your job, you prevent financial loss due to mis-hire.

Today, different online verification tools are available to validate candidates' past records, which deliver quick results. The excuse that background verification takes time can't stop you from choosing the right candidate. So, opt such tool and hire right talent for your organization. I personally use Verified Resources. You can try using it too. This is the link for Verified Resources
