Dear Dipil,
Thanks for the factual attachment.
The another problem which was associated with these factories before few years was CHILD LABOUR.
Actually the compliance's should be checked and enforced by social organisations.
Dear Mr. PTRC,

Hi All,
The way industries (Fireworks, Match Factories and Printing Units) in Sivakasi works is entirely different from rest of the country.
The unit owner will setup the unit with all infrastructure. There are contractors who have orders in hand, and they will approach this unit owner for lease of the unit for a few days/weeks, based on the volume. The unit owner lets the unit for lease for an agreed price based on the duration.
The contractor then looks for sub contractors who have expertise in jobs and have work force ready with them. These sub contractors then assemble the workforce again on contrat basis and start production.
If you look at closely the worker works only for the sub contractor on daily or weekly basis. Hence no strings attached like ESI PF etc. The contractor has no binding on the labour force similarly the unit owner has no direct link with the labour force.
As long as things go smooth this arrangement works fine. But when things boils like this fire mishap, then every one is on the run. The unit owner was hiding for sometime and was caught yesterday.
The ironical part of this is that the license for the unit was cancelled on 4th Sep and the Accident happend on 5th Sep.
Shee sxploitation of LAW in all aspects.
Regards
Veeyar.

Dear Mr. Veeyar,
Thanks for the details of working at Shivkashi.
The fact you have shared OK. But the industry owner has to follow all legal obligations.
Socially the professionals working in safety field have to make thhe workers aware and should educate them on the hazards and what facilities are essential for a Factory.
Local press also can contribute in awareness and training.
If this is done we can definately prevent such mishaps.
Thanks & Regards,
Sudhir
