Dear All;
I am working for an Architect's firm.
My problem starts with resignation of an sales executive under probation period. Our director is out of town & will rejoin on 12thsept.So his immediate boss accepted his resignation. But I am not comfotable for his clearance as both immediate boss & sales executive are friends.
As he resigned today so his last day comes on 12th sept.
So I wanted to know how should i tackle this situation as immediate boss says to do his settlement ASAP.
Please help.

Dear Ms. Rashmi,
Does your immediate boss have enough privilage to the resignation acceptance?
Initially, check with the Sales Executive as to what reason he has resigned... get the necessary info on the same. If all reasons seems effective to seperate him immediately inform your Director in an email copy marked to the immediate boss of SE. Await a confirmation and then go ahead.

Well I would start with few questions
Do you have any problem with their friendship?
Did you found anything like Sharmila ji said above 'PRIVILEGE' to the employee (sales executive)?
What post you are holding there in your company?
I meant to say if you are, an HR person must have known the procedure of resignation and if yes, you just need to do your work. In addition, you need to inform your director as suggested by Mr Singh.
Moreover, could you please explain your statement "I am not comfortable for his clearance"?

In addition to what Sharmila said, it is possible that his immediate boss might have taken telephonic approval from the director. Please check with the immediate boss. and secondly why you are uncomfortable with the action of the immediate boss - whether you are handling HR or Admn. If you are not, leave the matter to be decided between the immediate boss and the director.

Ms. Rashmi,
Greetings for the day!
You may take consent in written through e-mail from ur final approving authority by forwarding scan copy of the resignation letter of the employee. After that, you may relieve the employee at the earliest possible.

Hi
First of all, I dont see why you have to be concerned about their friendship. That is upto the individuals whether they want to be friends or not. 2nd concern I have, What role are you playing that you should be concerned about his resignation? If in HR, you should be knowing formalities. If not ask colleagues. If not an hr, then I dont see how you should have problem with the resignation whether under probation or not. Last Concern, What is it about resignation that you are uncomfortable about? Immediate boss and sales guy being friends? To be frank, the bonding they have is not your concern at all.

Dear Rashmi ji,
One thing you need to bear in mind that the probationer is entitled to give a notice of one day for resigning. You must have put a clause in his appointment letter. Even no appointment letter is issued to him or not such clause is put in the appointment letter, you can not hold him. At the most, you can request him to continue till your boss comes back.
Thanks with regards.

Most of the peoples narrate the real things (your concern about their friendship)
Many of also asked you that in what capacity you are working. If HR, then follow the principles of the organization , If not then you have nothing to worry about it.
Respond to your actual query - Inform your higher authority about the things that happened in the organization (employee resignation) & mark cc to all those are immediate reporting officer of SE. Wait & see

hi
I\'m an administrative Officer. First of all check in the employment contract whether any period of notice prior to terminating an employment is required. If that person has not given any period of notice that you have to claim him that in monetary terms.

Rashmi,
Pl let me know, are the person concerned or dealing with the personnel matter like appointments, resignation acceptance, fulfilling relieving formalities etc. If not why should you bother at all. If yes, you need to follow the appointment order terms and conditions of the person concerned. Normally during probation neither the employee nor the employer need to give any notice for separation from service. In case you have hesitation to take decision on your own, these days communication is not a problem. You can send email, SMS or can even contact your boss over mobile. Pl do that. You should be decisive. Don't have dilemma, and decisive.
Pl go ahead.
All the best.
