H i Friend,
Quite tough to handle such people, they either have problem with ego/attitude/over confident or are just laid back. Such people would unnecessarily influence others with their negative attitude. Confront them, explain the consequences for the poor performance, whch can lead to termination as well.......

Dear Chiragi,
Good Morning.
How to motivate the people who is not at all interested for training.?
First explain the needs ( 5Wives and 1 Husband) ( What, Where, When ,Who, Why and How ) and explain about the pros and cons of the training.
Main reason for not interested are attitude problems.
In that case you have to deal them in a calm and cool manner. Talk to the individual why he/she is not interested, what is the problem, whether he has any fear factor and any other problem.Complement his daily activities, appreciate his small piece of great work ( in daily routine exercise) , (U should make him feel he is the main core of the team, he /she may feels excited and interested to attend the training.)
Understand him better and explain him that this shall be useful for you and for the organization. (Emphasize WIN WIN ) . People get motivated and they shall be keen to come for training programs.
Use fun, games and exercise in training, rather than training use some other name by which people are eager to attend and train them.
U can send them the program titled as ( for example as a GAME FOR ALL -To work for Continuous improvement/etc. ).
Most of the times we have to discuss with the individual and solve them (Attitude problem) ( Probability of negative attittude people in a group may be 0.01).
I feel that this may be one of the solution to motivate the person who is not at all interested in training.
Please feel free to revert back with details if you have any query.
There is always a solution to any problem.
Thanks,
G.Raghuraman.

Hi friends,
As said by Chiragi this is common Challenge and there is no one solution for this common problem.
I recommend the following.
1. Try to identify the root cause of this Challenge by discussing in person with the individual( don't make him/her panic or threaten), with his reporting authority, or some who is interested in him/her. And work on it.
2. Make the program more participative allow them to talk.
3. Don't put any strict rules and don't criticise any one during the training session.
I wish to remind there is no one way to meet this challenge work on it continuously take some time to understand and move to next step. Just be positive for all times. And most importantly don't take it personal.

Dear G.Raghuraman,
Very Good Morning to u too..
U r right that the main reason for this is the Attitude problem..
To Emphasize WIN WIN is also worth doing..but the thing is that, in case if to whom u r training is quite older than u(trainer), then how to make them comfortable without any Ego Problem?
Please guide us for the same also...
Thanks for sharing ur view.. I will make one CONCLUSION SHEET for all ,after the long discussion on this topic..

Dear Chiragi,
Thanks for your mail.If a person is elder make them feel that u r the part of the family. U should make him feel that you are part of the family and to give him the due respect.( Talk to him/her,persuade him/her and make him/her feel great).( You have to convince him and that is one of the pivotal characteristics of a trainer.).
Go along with him/her and their way and tackle the problems. It is the best solution for any problem.
Thanks,
G.Raghuraman.

Hi Chiragi,
Well Nice Question U had asked..
In my point of view ,
1. First u have to analyse each such kind of person's interest. That he/She is interested in what basically.
For example, In my organization ,in the TNI form one person has suggested to do Brain Storming activity.. that will make us to think twice before applying somthing.
So through TNI form only U can directly check out their interest and based on that U can give Training to them.
Thanks for Sharing such case.
Keep it up...

Hi,
The basic problem is whether a particular training is a "Felt need" of the person attending the program. If he has no motivation to learn, the response is lukewarm. The focus should be to make the training programme interesting where the individual feels attracted towards it.
It is for this reason, many employers organise training programmes in distant places away from work place, where the employee is free from his work schedule and has a little free time. Some organisations encourage employees to take their families as well. This is the normal feature in international programmes also.
We have to give a lot of attention to the Faculty and the method of teaching. It is the skill of the faculty to hold the attention of the participants. In many programmes, the senior officials also spare time and sit for some time to make an objective assessment of the quality of faculty. This also gives a message to the participants, that the top management is serious about the programme.
The organisation must be very selective in sponsoring the employees for the training. Some times we find that the 'most sparable persons' are the ones who are sent for training programmes. Obviously they have no interest and the programme is of no use to the company.
The company must have a very close follow up with the participants, to decide on the long term course of action.

Dear Chiragi,
Its a very interesting topic. The solution lies in effective and strategic communication. Recently I attended a course on Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) from one of the renowned personalities Prof. Moiz Hussain, the same question was asked by one of the participants and he narrated one of his experiences.
He was asked by a milk selling company to motivate young children probably aged between 5 - 12 (dont remember the exact age) to develop habit for drinking milk and children are usually not so keen on drinking milk. The session was one and a half hours, you wont believe Prof. Moiz started with discussion on games, cartoons, movies, sports and all the topics which interests children and the discussion went on for One hour and 20 minutes with complete participation of children. For the last ten minutes the Professer talked about the benefits of drinking milk and the children were so much with him at that time that they believed whatever he instructed them.
Such is the power of communication, try this.
