Dear Cite Members & Seniors,
I have come across profiles where the person has been without employment for around 1-2 months because of several reasons like exams, delay in payment of salary by their employers, in search of better prospect and so on.
This profiles has reasonable skills & experience as per requirement. However, when i check about their salary expectation they quote figures in the same line as persons in employment. Does the market value of the person who is not employed reduced or is he justified in asking a higher salary then what he was drawing before?
My understanding is that market value either remains the same or reduces. Please respond with your point of view.

Dear Supriya,
Every candidate has right to quote the salary in interview. They are exercise their right. Who decides their value? They have right to decide their own value. This is their perception.
Today's job are quite exasperating. To avoid burn out if someone takes break does it mean he/she reduce market value?
Your perception may be different. If you can afford, go ahead and hire the candidate. Otherwise look for someone else!
Your real problem is your inability to assess the worth or worthiness of the candidate. Try to improve your interviewing skills. A seasoned interviewer can very well see through the game.
