Good evening!!
There is a confusion in my mind about severity rate of an accident.
In first aid case employee/workers took 15-20mins for first aid treatment. should these kind of loss time
Be compulsory to take ln no of man days lost???
Or should we take lost time only for reportable accident??

No need to count lost of time like 20 minutes when calculating severity rate... You need to count if at least a day lost due to accident... It is not that you need to take only reportable accidents lost days... If the victim resumes duty after 48 Hrs, it is reportable case... Non-reportable, even causing one day leave of victim to be calculated for severity rate calculations...

Please note, that very few companies use the severity rate as a calculation, as it only provides an average. The calculation is made by dividing the total number of lost work days by the total number of recordable incidents.
...........Total number lost work days
SR = ---------------------------------------------
...........Total number of recordable incidents
Again, using our previous company as an example, there were 5 lost work days and two recordable incidents. So, the severity rate calculation would look like this:

SR = -------- SR = 2.5
..........2
What is now known is that for every recordable incident at the company, an average of 2.5 days will be lost due to those work related injuries and illnesses.

In India we are not using the formula which you have mentioned for calculating the SR...

Dear Gaurav / Dipil / Raghu, We calculate the SR and FR in ppm of man hours worked. Most of the Indian companies calculate the same way. Thanks & Regards, Sudhir

because in our orgination the accident happen in minor cases, so that the person not taking leave for the accident,

can u clear me about the man-hour calculation
we are using the formula as below:-
Total person – work hours = No. Of manpower * No. Of Shift Hrs. * No. Of Hrs. Worked.
examlpe: - total no of manpower (174), no of shift hrs(7.5) and no of Hrs, worked (no of day working in a month(24 days)*no fo shift hrs)
= 174*7.5*180=234900
it is ok or same thing wrong with the formula.
please suggest!!!
